Dorcas, Equip a Church Leader Group, and Lake Kivu

In my last blog I had asked for prayer for Dorcas from the refugee camp. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition after the neighbor’s house had fallen on her last Sunday. We received news last night that Dorcas is now home and doing better. I do not have further details on the nature of her injuries. Thank you for your prayers.

On Thursday the EACL group finished four days studying Luke 5-11. Their growth is encouraging. I asked them to compare the two miracles in Luke 8:40-56. After a few accurate responses, Desire began to point out several contrasts; an “unclean” woman and the prominence of Jairus, a twelve year old girl compared to “a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years,” and Jesus’ compassion for both situations. Let me assure you, three years ago that insight would not have happened in this group. I was thrilled to see how God is doing a special work in these church leaders.

Late Wednesday night a group of fourteen (two teams) from Manchester Christian Church arrived at the Kigali airport. After getting them to their lodging I got to bed a little after 2 PM. Thursday they visited two genocide memorials and then visited the EACL group. Friday morning Theophile, Stephen (a friend and second interpreter) and I traveled to Kibuye on Lake Kivu where one group is working in the hospital for three days and the second group (all women) taught a group of Christian women today at the Kiziba Refugee Camp. It is difficult to describe, but God used the MCC women to bless the refugee women and He used the refugee women to bless the MCC team. It was a powerful day as these sisters in Christ from two very different cultures shared community in Christ today. God was glorified!

So happy to read that Dorcas is home and doing better. Although there are no details, I'm encouraged that she will continue to heal and that somehow in this accident her love for Jesus will grow and she will be a blessing to others as she tells of how The Lord saved and healed her.

"Jesus’ compassion for both situations"... So many thoughts went through my mind of the unclean woman and Jairus' daughter. I'm paying that as they continue to ponder these two stories that they will see The Lord's compassion over their country and over ours. As Pastor Bo would say in a heartbeat, "Pray for One!" that not one would be lost there and here.

Bless you all! Joy!
